For Esme

This weekend I did a lot. Lots to blog about. Lots to write about. And yet right now all I want to do is think about how my weekend ended (strange for a Monday dont you think?).

I spent Saturday night re-reading one of my favorite stories, "For Esme with Love and Squalor" by J.D. Salinger. Hands down one of the most beautiful short stories ever written. I was moved to read this because I saw a beautiful necklace on the Modish blog (http://www.modishblog.com/) called Esme. It was made with a green jewel. Im really into green right now for jewelry. But the name Esme ... it's my favorite name. If only my parents had been Salinger addicts ...

Special thanks to Danielle (http://www.etsy.com/shop/daniellerosebean) whose beautiful jewelry inspired a night of reading, a morning of clarity, and an opportunity for me to reflect on some of the words I needed to hear the most.

"Fathers and teachers, I ponder 'what is hell?' I maintain that it is the suffering of being unable to love."

"You take a really sleepy man, Esme, and he always stands a chance of again becoming a man with all his fac - with all his f-a-c-u-l-t-i-e-s intact."
