Reduce, Re-use, ReCreate

I dont know if it gets any more altered and cool than this. Check out this furniture from www.recreate.za.net. Designer Katie Thompson's philosophy is recycle, redecorate, redesign. Old things plus new things; sounds like home to me.

Hommage A Chanel

Definitely one of the most exquisite gifts I've ever gotten. So true to who I am, and to the giver, Colette Copeland (www.a-bird-in-the-hand.blogspot.com). Colette and I share an interest in sewing, in words, and above all, in adoration of the woman, Coco Chanel. Colette sketched this looking at a bottle of Number Five and using a copy of the original label. Thank you Colette, for such a stunning gift that illustrates what we love so much: the art of elegance. Colette, like Coco, you are tres elegant. Merci.

L.A.F.W.

Los Angeles Fashion Week is a wonderful time for us fashion enthusiasts to get up close and personal to indie designers and celebrate So Cal glamour. I was lucky enough to have been invited to the Project Ethos Fashion Show (http://www.projectethos.com/) for the second year in a row. Last year it was a treat, and this time around, I was equally excited. While I rarely venture out to L.A. the collections and prospect of meeting new people make it worth my while.

The show was hosted by Project Runway Season 2 contestant Nick Verreos. Amazing fashions paraded down the runway from http://www.bivika.net/, http://www.britboyfashions.com/, http://www.annieandjade.com/, http://www.summertitone.com/, and Gordana Gehlhausen's ( Project Runway season 6) collection, http://www.shopgoga.com/.

I of course enjoyed getting gussied up with my pal Serena of Made Woman Magazine (http://www.madewomanmag.com/). I'm wearing a sparkler that I bought recently and hadn't worn out yet. This was the perfect occasion. Dress: Haute Hippe (http://www.hautehippieinfo.blogspot.com/). Earrings: made lovingly by my mum. Cuff: Juicy Couture. Shoes: Miu Miu (you can't see them, but they're there, I swear).

The second best part about being a member of the press at a fashion show (besides the close seats) is the goodie bag. Thank you Project Ethos for inviting me, Serena for being my date, and Carlton Hair for the goodies! It was a fabulous night for this fashion lover.

Happy Feet

Who says your shoes can't have a sense of humor? Check out these heels by www.kobilevidesign.blogspot.com. From bottom to top: a tongue sticking out, tennis heels, slingshot, shopping basket, corset boot, stepping on gum, and a banana peel. I love it when fashion designers don't take themselves so seriously. Hope this makes you smile today : )
