A Day With Coppola & An Evening With Oscar

Being that this Sunday is the Oscars, I thought it only fitting to do a post on one of my vacation destinations that combined the magic of the movies in a setting that is pure wine country. Located in Geyserville, California, is the Francis Ford Coppola Winery (www.franciscoppolawinery.com). That's right, the director himself has a winery, and boy is it beautiful! This place is a celebration of the finer things in life: good food, good drink, cigars, luxurious pools, and rare movie memorabilia, including Coppola's Oscars and envelopes! The desk and car above are from The Godfather. I was of course drawn to all the different colors of the wine labels. I have been a fan of Coppola wine for a long time, and I also very much like their sparkling wine, Sofia. Love Sofia Coppola, her style and her films. I only just recently got into watching Mr. Coppola's movies. I have to see the second and third Godfather movies now, as I recently watched the first and loved it. I highly recommend this place for vacationing/indulging. It really does feel like you are at the Coppola home. I also highly recommend a bottle of their Director's Cut or Sofia for any Oscar watching festivities.

  1. My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at both of the Coppola resorts in Belize last year. They were wonderful, as is his wine!

  3. Beth... me, too! Not surprising. I'm a Coppola fan, Francis and Sophia. I've yet to taste his wines though. One day...

  4. Both father and daughter have the wonderful gift of bringing fantasy to life in everything they do. That ability is one all artists strive for.

Have a lovely weekend, enjoy the Oscars and a glass of wine, and friends.

  5. Hello Beth,
What a beautiful and interesting place and you took some great photos.

Godfather I and II are the best...Godfather III...not so much. They should have quit while they were ahead ;->

Speaking of the Academy Awards, I was lucky enough to attend the Oscar ceremony in 1997 (the year of Titanic) and the Governors Ball afterwards. I got to hold Matt Damon's Oscar and I met my Idol Patricia Neal. It was the most awesome experience.

I had Wolfgang Puck's gold leafed chocolate Oscars in my fridge for years ...they finally had to be thrown out.

    Have a great weekend!
